A stay-at-home mum, a Malay language teacher, and two sisters who both survived cancer.

What they have in common: They are all devoted caregivers with their own challenges and stories.

Watch to find out more about the their caregiver stories.

Jeanine Lim
A family’s lifestyle and routine change with the decline of a loved one’s health.

Jeanine — a mother of three — took on the additional role of caregiving for her bedbound mother as well. Taking on these responsibilities means the family has had to adapt to the needs of the older lady. For example, family outings are scheduled around the care needs of her mother, and must be planned days in advance.

But it has also given her children and their grandmother a chance to bond - from her teenage son who helps her with the physical acts of care, to the youngest children who like to play with their grandmother. Watch the video to listen as Jeanine tells you how she perseveres in her caregiving, sustained by the love and support of her family members.

Azhar Abdul Rashid
“Why me?”

Sole caregivers will no doubt have wondered this when they reflect on their responsibilities. It was a question Azhar asked himself many times, as he looks after both his parents.

As a full-time Malay language teacher, Azhar faces the challenge of taking care of his work, and his caregiving duties. Despite his past training as a paramedic, equipping him with healthcare knowledge, he admits the care work can be overwhelming at times.

Find out how he learnt that he is not all alone in this labour of love, and remember his heartfelt message - to be kind to oneself.

Joyce and Jenny Then
So close that they often finish each other's sentences, sisters Joyce and Jenny share an unbreakable bond in caring for their mother for the past 15 years.

They also both survived cancer, and have a deep empathy for their mother's dementia and health conditions. To them, care decisions are made not based on what is convenient but about what their mother would prefer.

They share with us how they support each other in life, and how the act of love can conquer many obstacles.
