Dementia can affect memory, thinking and reasoning skills, and can impact behaviour, feelings and relationships. It makes it more difficult for a person to do everyday activities and take care of themselves. It is not a part of normal aging.

It is possible to lower the risk of dementia through lifestyle choices and habits, including staying mentally and physically active, eating healthily and staying socially engaged.
